How to Play DVD On Mac?

Playing a DVD on Mac sometimes becomes quite a task for users. As, after inserting the DVD into the DVD Drive, it will not start automatically so you need to make some changes to play the DVD on Mac. There are various steps via which you can easily troubleshoot this problem. All the steps are illustrated below so try out these methods to pay DVD by using Mac Media Player.

Step 1

Set Mac Media Player as the Default Player on your Mac

 1. Launch System Preferences of Mac.

2. In the hardware tab, the CDs & DVDs option is given just click on it.

3. The last option asks When you insert a video DVD? Select “Open Mac Media Player” from the drop-down menu.

4. Now go back and re-insert the video DVD.

Step 2

Insert the DVD into the internal or external drive of Mac

After setting the Mac media Player as your default browser, all you have to do is that re-insert the DVD into the drive and wait till the Open Disc pop-up window appears on your screen to automatically start the movie DVD. Once appears, click on open to play the DVD on your Mac.

Step 3

Set Drive Region

Wait for few seconds while the Windows media player is running, afterwards you will see Drive region window on your screen. There are 3 options given on that window named “Cancel”, “Set Drive Region” and “Continue”.

a. If you select the “Cancel” option, then the Mac Media Player will close and the DVD will be ejected.

b. If you select “Set Drive Region” option, then you will enter into the region for resetting dialogue immediately.

c. If you select the “Continue” option, then the software detects the issue and try to read the DVD. Possibly, either it will make or break DVD which depends on different DVDs.

Step 4

Enjoy the movie

If all these steps works then the Mac media Player will automatically play the DVD as Disc menu will open on your screen. So, just click on play button to play the DVD and enjoy your movie on your Mac Media Player.
