The purpose of iPhone restrictions is to lock certain functions of the device. They are also referred to as Parental Controls, capable of hiding any media or file with explicit or inappropriate content, preventing YouTube from running, etc. These restrictions can be removed by using a 4-digit passcode, which most users might not be aware of. In this case you will not be able to reset your iPhone. However, do not worry as there is an easy solution for this. You can factory reset your iPhone using iTunes.
Here are the steps to factory reset an iPhone without entering restriction password.
Note Before getting started, please backup your data so you always have an option if anything goes wrong.
- Download and install latest version of iTunes on your computer from Apple’s official webpage.
- Once you have ITunes ready on your computer Pick up your iPhone. Press the “Power” “Home” buttons simultaneously, until the device starts turning off. Release the “Power” button but keep holding the “Home” button.
- Connect your iPhone to computer via USB cable connector. Connect the device, continue holding the “Home” button. Once it connects, the device must turn on with the iTunes logo and USB cable on a black screen. Once you see this screen, release the “Home” button. This screen will look something like this.
- Go to the iTunes program on your computer and click “OK” when you see the warning message “Recovery Mode”. Click “Restore iPhone” to start the restore process. It may take several minutes, but after that is complete, your iPhone is restored to factory settings and latest software available for your device will be installed on your iPhone.
After this your phone will turn back on and you will be greeted with the default iPhone welcome screen.
